In the beginning…

First launched by Eunan and Rachel in 1995 under the name Mac’s Mace, we were based in the old shop here on the High Road. We mainly were just selling pre-packed sandwiches, with Rachel making the sandwiches, and Eunan looking after the shop! We had 5 staff members at that stage.

Initially, we set out with the goal to create a place where local people could go to for top quality food, a great cup of tea or coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere where you could catch up with friends and neighbours, and to pick up some groceries and homemade bread as well!.

With the Cafe and Shop developing very well, we decided to expand to the new, larger building we are in today, increasing our staff to 15 in the process, with a large, purpose built kitchen which allowed us to increase our menu range, with all food homemade on the premises.

In 1996, we started the Outside Catering service, delivering straight to the door. This was a groundbreaking service at the time, and continues to be a very popular part of our business.

In 2016, we underwent a slight rebrand, changing the name to Mac’s Deli to reflect the fact that we were expanding the restaurant and bakery elements of the business. We now have a dedicated Patisserie section, along with a new Takeaway counter, and we currently have 35 staff.

Over the years, we have built up a strong reputation for great food, beverages and dedicated service, thanks to our large number of regular customers. There is always a convivial atmosphere, with a great buzz and plenty of craic.
